Meet The District Governor
Please join us in welcoming our new District Governor, Charlotte Whitted!
Born in Winston-Salem, NC, Charlotte Whitted graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in American History. After a career in non-profit development and management primarily, she moved with her family to a sheep farm in Burke’s Garden, VA in 1998.
Charlotte Whitted began her Rotary journey in 2007 as a member of the Tazewell Rotary Club when she was the Executive Director of Historic Crab Orchard Museum & Pioneer Park. She served as Club President and Area Governor, connecting personally with the Rotary Youth Exchange program. Charlotte and her family hosted two inbound students through Tazewell Rotary: Anri from Japan, and Daniel from Spain. She went on to chair the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee for District 7570 for six years.
Charlotte moved to Abingdon, Virginia in 2018, but kept her Burke’s Garden farm in Tazewell County. In 2019 she retired from the museum and moved her membership in 2020 to the Abingdon Rotary Club. She has since turned her farm into a short-term rental called Weatherbury Cottage.
Charlotte is our Rotary District Governor for 2026-27. She is also a Paul Harris Fellow, a Major Donor, a member of the Paul Harris Society and the Bequest Society for the Rotary Foundation. She was honored with the David Moreman Youth Encouragement Award from District 7570 in 2024-25.
When she is not busy with Rotary, Charlotte enjoys her two golden retrievers, Bo and Devon, her three grown children, Emily, Anna, and James, singing live whenever the opportunity arises, and playing competitive pickleball.
